Our Lady of Kibeho appeared in the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda, in 1981. She revealed herself as the Mother of the Word and called the world to repentance, prayer, and conversion of heart. Through the young visionaries, she warned of the suffering that would come if humanity did not turn back to God, while also offering a message of hope, mercy, and maternal love for all her children.

A central devotion that Our Lady of Kibeho encouraged was the Seven Sorrows Rosary, a meditation on the deepest sufferings of her life united to the Passion of her Son. By contemplating the prophecy of Simeon, the flight into Egypt, the loss of the Child Jesus, the meeting on the way to Calvary, the Crucifixion, the descent from the Cross, and the burial of Jesus, the faithful are invited to enter more fully into the mystery of redemption. Our Lady promised that those who pray this rosary with sincerity would receive the grace of repentance, interior conversion, and the strength to carry their own crosses with trust in God.
